Waffles are a perfect comfort food and tall A absolutely loves them. In fact so much so that if we are out for the evening and he sees a waffle shop at the mall he will definitely want to have it and we end up spoiling or missing dinner ( the reason we went out for in the first place!).
So, sundays are definitely up for waffles and we do sometimes get up and go to eat a proper english breakfast at any of the great breakfast eateries around the city. But… getting up in time on a Sunday, getting ready and reaching any place in an appropriate time for breakfast is a bit of a stretch for both of us. See, basically we are lazy people. You won’t carch us ever enthusiastically getting up and going for an early morning jog. We would rather sleep in and not eat. 😁😁😁
Though now we do have to get up post arrival of small A, who is an early riser. (Cries in the corner). But even then we are pretty lazy on weekends. So yeah, when we want waffles, we whip up a batch. I also make a special batch for small A, a healthier version.
All purpose Flour – 2 cups
Eggs – 2 large
Butter (melted) – 1 cup
Milk – 1.5 cup
Baking pd – 3 tsp
Salt – 1 tsp
Sugar – 2-3 tsp as per taste
Cinnamon powder – 1 tsp
Mix all together to make a smooth runny batter
Oil the waffle iron, preheat it and pour 1 big ladle full in it
Turn once you see the edges browning
Cooks in around 6-7 mins
I use the same batter for pancakes
You can substitute the all purpose flour with whole wheat, it is a little less fluffy but tastes equally good.
Also, you can add ripe bananas ( mashed ) for the pancake batter.
Adding bananas in the waffle mix doesn’t work that well because the mix needs to be smoother for waffles.
What you can do is serve the waffles with cut bananas.
Serving Suggestions :
Preference of sides differs from person to person. A loves it with condensed milk and maple syrup and I prefer honey my dad of course prefers chocolate sauce. He is a chocalte addict 😆. And believe it or faint, my mom once asked for tomamto sauce with it 😳😳😳

Condensed milk/ Maple 🍁 Syrup / Honey 🍯
Toppings : cut Banana 🍌/ cut Strawberry 🍓/ Nutella Jam / Strawberry or any other preserve/ Cut Peaches / Honey 🍯/ Tomato 🍅 Sauce !!!
